General Information

Roughly located at a distance of 49 kilometres away from the Sydney city is the suburb of Willmot. The suburb was named after the first President of Blacktown Shire Council, Thomas Willmot, who was President of the Council in the early 1900s.

Demographics

Willmot is considered to be a small suburb with less than 2500 people residing in the area. Comprising of mostly younger residents, it has a median age of 29 years which is significantly lower than that of NSW. The bulk of residents are locals with the other people coming from various parts of Europe and Samoa. The predominant jobs held by residents are those in the labour industries followed by people in the administrative industry.

Transport

There are regular bus services running through to the neighbouring suburbs of Mount Druitt and St Marys. For the sake of convenience, many local residents prefer to use private vehicles for commuting to work and from place to place.

Commercial area

Willmot is principally a residential suburb, with limited commercial activities. A local grocery store is on the corner of Discovery Avenue and Carteret Avenue. Many residents travel to other nearby suburbs for their daily shopping needs.

Housing

Most of the residential dwellings in Willmot are separate houses. Semi-detached residences and units account for 10.5% and 4% respectively.
