General Information

Part of the greater western area of Sydney, Wentworthville is located at a distance of about 27 kilometres westward of the Sydney city. The suburb takes its name after a well-known barrister, publisher and politician, D’Arcy Wentworth. In 1883, Wentworthville railway station was constructed. It was originally called T.R Smith’s platform, but shortly later, renamed Wentworthville.

Demographics

More than 10,550 people currently reside in Wentworthville, which makes it one of the more desirable suburbs of Sydney’s west. Apart from the locally born that makes up the area, Wentworthville is home predominantly to the Indian community. Professional service jobs are the primary occupations held by residents of the suburb which is followed by people in administration.

Transport

Wentworthville railway station is on the Cumberland and Western lines of the rail network in Sydney. It has frequent and direct services both to Penrith and to the city. There are also plentiful bus services to nearby suburbs including Parramatta and Blacktown.
The M4 motorway, Great Western Highway and Cumberland Highway provides easy access from the suburb by car.

Commercial area

The main commercial area in Wentworthville is located on the southern side of the train station. There is an IGA supermarket, post office, many cafes and restaurants and specialty stores. Wentworthville Mall is on Dunmore Street, with Westfield Parramatta located a short distance away.

Housing

About half of all dwellings in Wentworthville are separate houses. Semi-detached dwellings and units each account for slightly over 20%.
