General Information

Just over 20 km off Sydney’s centre in the Upper North Shore region of Sydney lies the suburb of Warrawee. The suburb has its roots in Aboriginal history which means to rest momentarily or stop.

Demographics

Warrawee is one of Sydney’s smallest suburbs with it recording just under 3000 people in 2011. Locals form the majority of its population with other decedents such as the Scottish, Irish, Chinese and English making up the remainder. The bulk of people hold full time jobs in the professional fields with people working in managerial positions following not too far behind.

Transport

Frequent bus services runs to Turramurra and Sydney. Warrawee station is located north of the suburb along Warrawee Avenue. Many residents also prefer to use private vehicles for commuting to work with the Pacific Highway intersecting the suburb which gives residents easy access to a major freeway.

Commercial area

Warrawee is predominantly a residential suburb with limited commercial activity. Most people travel to nearby Turramurra for their daily shopping needs.

Housing

The most common type of housing are separate houses, accounting for approximately 72%. Units and apartments are the next most popular, forming 27% of all dwellings. The rest are duplexes.
