General information of Tregear

Just over 45 km west of the city of Sydney sits the suburb of Tregear. The suburb known today as Tregear was once a homestead that was possessed by John King-Lethbridge.

At a population of just under 4,000, Tregear is one of Sydney’s smaller suburbs where the median age of its population is well below the national median of Australia. The majority of its residents are born in Australia with the rest of its residents originating from New Zealand, Samoa and the United Kingdom. About half of its residents are employed on a full time basis primarily in the Machine operating industry.

The suburb is bordered by Luxford Road to the east and is the main road that passes through the suburb, leading to Carlisle Avenue and into the Great Western Highway, giving residents ease of access into the highway and into Parramatta. Although the suburb does not have its own dedicated train station, St Mary’s station is located nearby. Buses service the suburb, with the main bus route running along Hatherton Road and Luxford Road, providing frequent services to the surrounding areas and the train stations.

Commercial area

Apart from the numerous shops that are located around the suburb, the main commercial hub for the suburb is located along Aurora Drive and is home to Tregear shopping centre. It features a myriad of facilities and amenities that most people would require on a daily basis.

The main type of housing in Tregear are houses with a mix of both fibro and brick houses. Most of the houses are from the older generation and are predominantly owned by housing commission. House prices in the area generally range between mid 300K to around 500K.
