General Information

The Ponds is western suburb of Sydney located nearly 40 kilometres off the CBD.
As the suburb is situated beside ‘Second Ponds Creek’, it was decided that The Ponds was a suitable name. It was officially declared a suburb in 2007, and it was named the most fortunate suburb in Sydney following the census conducted in 2011.

Demographics

The Ponds, having just under 3000 people is one of Sydney’s smallest suburbs. It is made up mostly of younger families with a median age of 30 years, significantly lower when compared to NSW’s average. Locals make up the bulk with the residents in the area with other residents coming from places around Asia and the UK. Majority of the residents are full timers in the professional services, followed by people working in administration.

Transport

The closest railway station is at Quakers Hill. In addition, regular buses travel to nearby suburbs Rouse Hill and Blacktown.
Another popular form of transport is by their own private vehicles, with many residents preferring to drive to work and other places.

Commercial area

As The Ponds is predominantly a residential suburb, there is very limited commercial activities. Many residents travel to neighbouring suburb Rouse Hill for their daily shopping needs.

Housing

Residential housing in The Ponds is comprised of approximately 90% separate houses, and 10% semi-detached.
