After being granted a ticket of leave, he worked for a free-settler, and eventually bought a block of land in the region which is today known as Schofields.

Schofields has a population of about 3,813. The main races that can be found in the area include Australian, English, Maltese, Irish and Scottish. Full timers account for the majority of the workforce and they are mostly employed as clerical staffs.

Schofields railway station is on two separate lines of the rail network, providing easy access to other suburbs in the metropolitan area.
There are also numerous bus services to Blacktown, Plumpton and Riverstone. Road users are also catered for with the M7 motorway situated just south of Schofields.

Commercial area

A retail area opposite the railway station has recently opened, with a Woolworths supermarket and chemist. A small shopping strip is located further north of Railway Terrace, featuring a newsagent, take-away liquor store and other specialty stores.
