Located in the south western region of Sydney, at a distance of 37 kilometres off the central business district of Sydney is the suburb of Sadleir. It was named after the first mayor of Liverpool, Richard Sadleir. The suburb was originally part of Green Valley, but got subdivided and became a suburb of its own in 1960.
Sadleir is one of Sydney’s smaller suburbs with a population of a mere 3,053 people. The suburb has an average age of just 31 years which is significantly lower than NSW’s average. Apart from the bulk of the residents who are Australian born locals, the English are the second largest race that can be found here. The predominant jobs by residents in the area are in the manual labour industry.
Buses are the main form of public transport, with services to Parramatta and Liverpool. Many residents also travel by car for commuting to and from work.
As the suburb is primarily residential, many people travel to nearby Miller Shopping centre, adjacent to the suburb for their shopping needs.
Approximately 90% of dwellings in Sadleir are separate houses. Semi-detached housing and units account for the remainder.
