General Information

Pendle Hill is a suburb located westward of Sydney city at a rough distance of 30km.
The name for the suburb is believed to have originated from the UK. Bond Industries started operations in western Sydney and by the mid-1920s, was producing a quarter of the country’s output of hosiery and undergarments. Since Pendle Hill in Lancashire was the UK’s main cotton industry, it was adopted as the name of the suburb.

With a population number of 6633, Pendle Hill comes in as one of Sydney’s medium sized suburbs. Its average age is almost equal to that of NSW’s. Indian, English, Australian, Chinese and Irish are the most common backgrounds of local residents.
Professionals are the main jobs held by residents, followed by people working in administration.

Pendle Hill railway station is on part of two separate lines of the rail network, providing easy access to other areas of Sydney.
Bus services are available to major commercial centres Blacktown and Parramatta. Private transport is also popular with many locals, as the M4 motorway and Great Western Highway is located to the south of the suburb.

Commercial area

The main retail area and a shopping centre is located on the southern side close to the train station. There are a variety of stores, including banks, a post office, numerous eateries, a Woolworths supermarket and more.
