General Information

Located within the Greater Western region of Sydney at an approximate distance of 28 kilometres west of the CBD sits the suburb of Old Toongabbie. The suburb’s name was derived from an Aboriginal word that means place by the water.
Shortly after the arrival of the First Fleet, the land was used to grow food for the colony.
With the passage of time, the suburb grew and is now a predominantly residential suburb.

Demographics

Old Toongabbie is a small community with only about roughly 2,700 people residing in the area. The median age of 37 years is similar to that of NSW. Most of the local residents are of Australian, English, Irish, Scottish and Chinese descent.
The most popular occupations include professionals, clerical staff, technicians, managers and community workers.

Transport

Toongabbie and Pendle Hill are the nearest railway stations. Regular bus services are available to Parramatta and Wentworthville.
Many residents prefer to use private vehicle as their primary form of transport due to convenience.

Commercial area

A small shopping precinct is located on the corner of Fitzwilliam Road and Picasso Crescent. There is an IGA supermarket, hairdresser, vet and convenience store. A minor commercial area is situated on the northern part of the suburb.

Old Toongabbie is primarily made up of separate houses, with detached housing accounting for about 98%.
