General Information

Located within the Greater Western Sydney region sits Old Guildford which is approximately 24 km west of the heart of Sydney.
The suburb was named after the Earl of Guildford. Prior to the arrival of the Europeans, the land was inhabited by the Dharug people. After the arrival of the Europeans, a railway line was constructed with the railway station helping the area grow over the years.

Demographics

With a population of just under 2600 people, Old Guildford is regarded as one of the smallest of Sydney’s suburbs. The median age of the suburb is 28 years which is significantly lower than the average age of NSW. The most common backgrounds of residents are Lebanese, Australian, English, Chinese and Syrian. Most people in the area are employed as technicians, clerical staff, labourers, professionals and machinery operators.

Transport

Guildford railway station is the closest to Old Guildford, and is on two separate lines of Sydney’s rail network.
Bus services are available to Fairfield, Chester Hill and Guildford. It is also easily accessible by car, with Woodville Road a major thoroughfare in the region.

Commercial area

Most of the commercial and retail activities is located towards the southern boundary of the suburb. Retail chains Bing Lee and Officeworks is situated on the corner of Woodville Road and Fairfield Street.
