Within the Upper North Shore of Sydney, located approximately 22 kilometres north-west off Sydney’s centre is the suburb of North Wahroonga.
The suburb is directly north of Wahroonga, which is an Aboriginal word which translates as ‘our home’. A large area of the suburb consists of parklands.

Demographics

2011 saw the population numbers of the suburb to be at around 1,886 residents. The suburb is comprised mainly of elderly residents, with an average age of 42 years.
Most of the residents are of English, Australian, Scottish, Irish and Chinese background.
The most common professions are managers, professionals, clerical staff, and retail and community staff.

Transport

The closest train station is at Wahroonga. Buses are the main form of public transport, with regular services to surrounding suburbs Turramurra and Wahroonga.
Many people prefer to use private transport for convenience purposes. The Pacific Motorway west of the suburb, is a popular route for motorists especially during holiday periods.

Commercial area

As North Wahroonga is predominantly a residential suburb, commercial activity is limited. Many residents travel to nearby Hornsby for their shopping and daily needs. There is a wide range of offerings at Westfield Hornsby, including many eateries, banks, and retail stores.

Housing

Most of the dwellings in North Wahroonga consists of separate houses, with a small proportion of townhouses, duplexes and apartments.
