General Information

Situated at an approximate distance of 25km off the Sydney CBD and part of the Hornsby Shire lies the suburb of Normanhurst. The suburb was formerly known as Hornsby, but with the construction of railway lines in the late 19th century, there was a change in name. It was named after Norman Selfe, a well-known civil engineer during the time.

Demographics

The 2011 census recorded a population density of 5,156 of which the median age is 40 years compared with the NSW median age of 38 years.
Most of the residents are of English, Australian, Irish, Scottish and Chinese background.
The most popular professions are managers, professionals, clerical staff, technicians and retail workers.

Transport

Public transport is conveniently available in Normanhurst. Normanhurst station is on the North Shore, Northern & Western line of the rail network. Bus services are available to Wahroonga, Parramatta and Hornsby.
Normanhurst is also easily accessible by car, with Pennant Hills Road being the main thoroughfare.

Commercial area

The main commercial area is located on Denman Parade adjacent to the train station. A vet, pharmacy, liquor store and a number of cafes and restaurants serve the local community.
