General Information

The suburb of Kirrawee is located approximately 25 kilometres south of the heart of Sydney.
Originating from an Aboriginal word, Kirrawee means lengthy. Prior to 1950, the suburb was sparsely populated. Like many other Sydney suburbs, Kirrawee’s population grew over time, helped by new developments in the area.

Demographics

In the census conducted in 2011, Kirrawee was found to have about 8,977 residents. It has a similar median age to NSW at 39 years.
The most common ethnic backgrounds are Australian, English, Irish, Scottish and German.
Residents in the suburb are employed mainly as professionals, clerical staff, technicians, managers and community workers.

Transport

Kirrawee railway station is located on the Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra line.
In addition to trains, buses travel to Sutherland, Miranda and Grays Point.
The suburb is also easily accessible by car, with the Princes Highway a major thoroughfare in the vicinity.

Commercial area

Kirrawee has a mixture of commercial and residential areas. The main shopping area is located close to the railway station, and features a number of professional services firm, and specialty retail stores.
