General information of Grays Point

Just less than 30 kilometres off the heart of the Sydney CBD is the suburb of Grays Point. Neighbouring suburbs are Kirrawee and the Royal National Park. Till this day, it is still not known exactly where and how the suburb inherited its name, however it was thought to be named after a person called Samual William Gray.

2011 saw the population of Grays Point to be a slightly over 2,500 people and experiencing steady increase over the years. Residents are mainly locals with the rest coming predominantly from various parts of Europe. The bulk of its people are employed on a full time basis with them being in the professional services.

Grays Point is ideally located being close to the Princess Highway to the north which gives residents easy access to a major motorway. The nearest train stations are at Gymea and Kirrawee located near President Avenue. Bus stations are located all around the area which give residents easy access to a bus station. Bus services are available within the suburb, the surrounding areas and various train stations.

Commercial area

The suburb is primarily a residential suburb with various small businesses located along Grays Point Road close to the intersection of Swallow Rock Drive, featuring a few of the main necessities. Although most daily essentials are offered, many residents usually depend on the rest of the Sutherland Shire for their more extensive needs.

Residential dwellings in Grays Point are a mix between new and existing houses , with quite a few waterfront properties in the area. Due to its premier location being close to the water, prices for properties in the area can demand high 500K to as much as close to 2 million dollars and in rare occasions even more.
