General Information

Glenorie is part of the Hills District, located approximately 44 kilometres north-west off Sydney’s centre.
The suburb was first known as Dural and North Dural shortly after. However, due to confusion it was changed to Glenorie, named after a Scottish town.

Demographics

Glenorie has a population of about 3,405. The median age of the suburb at 39 years is similar to NSW’s median age.
The most common backgrounds of residents are English, Australian, Italian, Lebanese and Scottish.
Managers, professionals, technicians, clerical staff and labourers are some of the more common jobs of people within the area.

Transport

The main form of public transport are buses, with services to Castle Hill.
Due to the rural location of the suburb, the majority of local residents utilize private vehicles as their main form of transport.

Commercial area

There is a Woolworths supermarket located on Old Northern Road. A newsagent, pharmacy, hairdresser and a number of other small businesses serve the local community. Glenorie RSL club is located behind Woolworths.

Housing

Almost all residential housing in Glenorie are made up of detached dwellings.
