Glendenning is located in the Greater Western Sydney region, about 44 kilometres from the centre of Sydney.
The suburb was officially recognised in 1987. It was named after a butcher, William Glendenning, who operated a slaughter yard in the area.


Glendenning has a population of about 5,026. The suburb is comprised mostly of younger residents, with a median age of 29 years.

Majority of its people are employed as clerical staff, machinery operators, professionals, technicians and labourers.


Rooty Hill railway station is closet to Glendenning. There are also regular bus services to Parramatta and Mount Druitt.
