General information of Fairfield
Located 30 kilometres west of the Sydney CBD is the suburb of Fairfield. Fairfield is considered to be one of the most ethnically diverse suburbs in Sydney. 1856 saw the opening of Fairfield railway station, but it was not until the mid to late 19th century that development started to take place.
With about 17,000 people Fairfield comes in as one of the largest suburbs in Sydney. Unlike the majority of Sydney suburbs, the bulk of the Fairfield population have their origins from overseas coming predominantly from the South East Asian region. The bulk of people hold full time employment with many in the trade industry.
Fairfield train station is situated along Dale Street with frequent services to and from the city. There are also numerous bus stations located all throughout the suburb which interlinks the suburb as well as the train station and the surrounding areas. The Horsley Drive is the major road that passes through the suburb linking into the Hume Highway, providing residents fast and easy access to the city.
Fairfield has one of the most dynamic commercial districts of any Sydney suburb. Fairfield boasts 2 shopping complexes which are Neeta City and Fairfield Forum. In addition, the surrounding area offers a range of shops with a diverse product and service range as well as more than 20 different types of restaurants and café’s which reflect directly on its cultural diversity.
Fairfield has a mix of both private as well as public housing. Of the private dwellings, the bulk are separate houses. Fairfield properties is made up of both new and old designs with prices ranging anywhere from 300K to more than 800K, mainly due to the large land area that some of these houses possess.
