General information of Claymore

At 54 kilometres south-west of the Sydney CBD is the suburb of Claymore, governed by the city of Campbelltown. Many of the streets in the suburb were named after Australian artists.

Demographics

According to the 2011 census conducted, around 55% of the population were females and the rest were males, making up approximately 3300 people. Of the population, less than half are employed on a full time basis with their main job being in the labour related industries.

Transport

Claymore is situated conveniently located in terms of its transportation systems. The Hume Highway borders the suburb to the east giving residents easy access to the highway. The nearest station to Claymore is Campbelltown railway station located further south east, located near the Hume Highway. It has regular services to the Sydney CBD. Bus stations are located on Dobell Road and run through the suburb, with services to the train station as well as to the surrounding areas.

Commercial area

Claymore is predominantly a residential suburb with few businesses within the area. The only businesses are located along Dobell Road and Colquhoun Way which features a medical centre, a post office and a Foodworks. For residents who would like a more dynamic shopping experience, Macarthur Square is located further south and is a major shopping complex with a diverse range of speciality shops.

Housing

Claymore has a mixture of separate houses and semi-detached dwellings, accounting for about 35% and 65% respectively.
