General information of Chipping Norton
Approximately 27km away from the centre of Sydney lies the suburb of Chipping Norton. Before the European settlement, the land was home to two customary keepers, the Dharug people who occupied the river’s north and west, and the Tharawal people who populated the southern portion of the river.
With a population of just under 9000, Chipping Norton is one of Sydney’s medium to large suburbs. The majority of people are locals with next biggest populous being the Vietnamese community. Many residents of working age are employed full time in the administrative industries.
The closest train station to the suburb is Liverpool railway station located just west of the suburb. It offers regular services to and from the city. Bordering the suburb to the south is Newbridge Road. It links up to the M5 Western Motorway via Heathcote Road, providing residents with easy access to the major motorway. Apart from the numerous bus stations dispersed across the suburb, the main bus route runs along Newbridge Road to the south. Buses in the area travel to surrounding areas and to Liverpool station.
The main commercial area of Chipping Norton is located on the eastern side of the suburb, along Gov Macquarie Drive and Barry Road. Along Barry Road is Market Plaza, featuring various amenities including specialty shops, dining options and a Coles Supermarket.
Houses are mostly found in Chipping Norton with both classic and new style house designs. Due to its close proximity to the major highway and to Liverpool station, property prices in the area have risen over the years. House prices ranges from 600K to 1.5 million dollars and sometimes more. The average price for property in the area is $645,000.
