General information of Annangrove
Annangrove is a suburb located north-west of the Sydney area about 42 kilometres from the Sydney CBD. The suburb is named after Annangrove House, the home of Edward Charles Johnston. The house derived its name from Annan, Edward Charles’ birthplace in Scotland. Early in the suburb’s history, timber cutting was the main industry, but in the late 19th century this changed to orchards.
The population of Annangrove is approximately 1,370. The median age of the suburb is 39 years. The background of the residents include English, Australian, Irish, Italian and Scottish. Most of the residents are employed as technicians, managers, clerical staff, professionals and retail workers.
The nearest train station from Annangrove is the Schofields station, which is a short drive away. Bus is the main mode of public transportation. There are numerous bus stops along Annangrove Road.
However, most residents prefer the use of a private motor vehicle as it is more convenient.
There are a number of shops scattered along Annangrove Road, but most residents prefer to travel to nearby Rouse Hill Town Centre or Castle Towers in Castle Hill for their shopping needs.
The most common form of housing in Annangrove is separate houses, with only a small proportion of dwellings being units or apartments.
