General Information

Sitting at just under 30 km south west of the heart of Sydney lies the suburban expanse of Moorebank. The suburb was named after one of the earliest settlers, Thomas Moore. Formerly a rural area, it evolved into a commercial and residential suburb.

Demographics

In the census conducted in 2011, Moorebank had a population of about 7,595, however it has been experiencing steady growth over the years. The median age was 35 years, slightly lower than the median age of NSW.
Many residents are of Australian, English, Italian, Irish and Greek descent. The most popular occupations are clerical staff, professionals, technicians, managers and community workers.

Transport

The primary mode of transport is by bus with services to nearby suburbs Liverpool and Chipping Norton extending out to Burwood.
Moorebank is also easily accessible by car, with the M5 motorway and Newbridge Road the main arterial roads.

Commercial area

The main shopping precinct is Moorebank shopping village, situated on the corner of Stockton Avenue and Maddecks Avenue. A Woolworth’s supermarket, newsagent and a number of other specialty stores serves the local community.

Housing

Most of the housing in Moorebank are separate houses, making up about 90% of dwellings. The remainder consists of townhouses and units.
